Hi to all,
Just to keep organized, I'm  forwarding my response on the cold room build up project which was send to the mail OHM 2013 discuss.

I'll be responding to Evina's post etc. soon, very good ideas by the way.

Sincerely,

FAA

Hi to all,
Many thanks for the suggestions. I will just state what we are after, that means the requirements for Food Hacking Base (fhb) at the moment (plus some place extra for interested people), I have updated some info on the project page

https://ohm2013.org/wiki/Village:Food_Hacking_Base/Project/Cold_room

We need cooled place to store ingredients for cooking and beverages (hundreds of  0.5 l bottles). 10 square meters of floor projection should be minimum, temperature max 6C, rather bit below. Should not be entered very often (once per hour let's say? max every 30 min).

The hexayurt structure sounds really nice, I wonder if anyone has experience with that concept and would be willing to help out - either theoretically with the design or practically, both the best.

I wonder Arjen if I understand correctly that  the structure of the yurt should be doubled. I have never build hexayurt before so I wonder how does it effect the design, what could be the issues, any ideas?

Many thanks for the tips on using the gasses especially for the initial cooling. It looks like that the orga is not super excited about the idea of small sea of liquid nitrogen (probably Terminator 2 exposure in an early childhood) I wonder about the bottle of the pressed CO2 which you suggested mclien. If we insulate the structure how much would we need for the initial cooling of hexayurt of 10 square meter floor projection and 2 m high (lets say in the middle)  any ideas? Does someone knows some good hexayurt calculator, Arjen, Walter? I'm not sure what is the situation in the area with the used insulation material but I'm bit afraid that Dutch are bit to organized to leave such "mess" around.

Anyone knows about used air-conditioning unit? Cheaper/free best ... How much could used air-con cost in Holland or Belgium/Germany?

Well I hope that I went over the major points. I will be present on the camp ground since it opens, so 23/24th of July, ready to start to work on this project. I should be in the area already around one week before (Amsterdam). It would be great to have help from someone to make a proper build up proposal, I have never done hexayurt before so ...

Sincerely from Jeju,

And it can be produced very low tech stile:

A bottle of compressed CO2. Put jute bag over the outled and open the bottle (Yes without the normal pressure regulator). The temperature drop of the gas expansion will freeze the gas to as low as minus 100 °C.
