[hackerspaces] Firearms in Hackerspaces?

We haven't had to implement an official policy yet, as there has been no
concerns, but we have discussed the issue.
Essentially what we came up with is that, unless the firearm is part of a
project that is being actively worked on, we would require that it be
placed in a locker. If it is part of a project, the ammunition for it
should not be in the space without a damn good reason.
We've only had one person, to my knowledge, that wore a handgun in the
space, and that was only rarely. He was an active duty member of the
military, and it was his issued sidearm. No one ever objected, and the
person never was agressive in any way, so we just haven't instituted the
policy.
One objection to the policy was that it would prevent law enforcement, who
in some cases are required to be armed, from entering the space. That
objection was a non-starter once we decided that, as a general rule, law
enforcement wasn't really welcome anyway.
