I'm wondering whether this should be membership management software or
accounting? (or both).

Not to bikeshed the thing, but wouldn't it be more sensible to aim for
ideal support and optionally others like paypal (although they can give
you headaches)? And basic bank transfers like automagische incasso?
Also, afaik we didn't want stuff like bitcoin for membership payments.

Besides that, sensible points and much gracias for looking into it.
