Something I discovered that helped my depression came out of a blood
workup that my physician performed during a routine physical: Vitamin D.
I went in complaining of malaise and chronic pain (well, worse chronic
pain than usual) in addition to depression and it was discovered that
my body had dangerously low Vitamin D levels. I was put on a
prescription supplement for a few weeks (15k IU) and now I take a
daily dose of 4000-4500 IU of Vitamin D in supplement form.
It's been nearly a year since the diagnosis and the depression's
become much more managable, and cognitive therapy is working a lot
more reliably as well.
