[hackerspaces] DIY HUD

Have you thought about placing the LED (or several LEDs) in a more
convenient location and bring the light with optical fibers ? I once almost
convinced someone who was into piercing to pierce his brow in a way that
would allow a fiber to go through (and display status by highlighting his
eyes in red/blue/green)
