hi everyone,
lots of great discussions on education and inclusivity at sudo room today.
please check out the updated
inclusivity<http://sudoroom.org/wiki/Inclusivity>and
education <http://sudoroom.org/wiki/Education> project pages on the wiki
for all the details.
additionally, it is time to start having classes at sudo room! the "*Today
I Learned*" series of classes will be held on saturday afternoons at 2PM.
they will be one-off classes that you can sign up to teach ahead of time on
any topic whatsoever. we are envisioning this as an opportunity to have
hands-on workshops, classes on technical and non-technical subjects,
presentations of projects, and more. the idea behind the classes is to make
an easy way for members of the public to come to sudo room in a
non-intimidating setting to learn something new and get involved! please
sign up here: http://sudoroom.org/wiki/Today_I_Learned
also, there are a number of folks on this list who are ready to start
planning an education program for sudo room beyond the today i learned
series. it seems that a meeting is in order. so far, folks who are
interested in education projects are: ray, hilary, paul, and steven. if
anyone else is interested, please reply all to this list. also, it would be
great if folks in this list would suggest a meeting time/date to begin this
discussion.
finally, we have a number of action items from the inclusivity meeting
(please check notes) including the need for basic outreach materials. would
anyone be interested in working on the following suggested outreach items:
- postcards with basic info: photo, who we are, what we do, map,
potential classes, how to get in touch/involved.
- cards
- intro video (video tour of the space was one suggestion)
- more blog posts - pick a topic!
- please reply all if there's a promotional item that you would like to
make :)
