[sudoroom] Glass and Screen Printing

We could workshop it at some point, but the screen-making process requires a few pieces of specific equipment (A scoop, some emulsion, an exposure unit, some kind of very opaque printer). You can get by with the sun for exposure, but without those other things I would be describing the process instead of stepping you through it.

So far I've gotten by using a laser printer on transparencies, and I have used an inkjet on transparencies.

At a bare minimum you'll need a scoop and some emulsion, with some transparencies and your printer.

You may be able to get these at Blick Art Supplies, or at Midwest Sign & Screen Printing Company.

Of course, all of this is much simpler on a Yudu, which is why it's a great way to make prints without a shop. It won't print huge designs like your poster, but it's definitely easier for an in-shop workshop.

I'm not sure, but my guess is the screen printing workshop at workshop weekend had pre-emulsified screens, so they were able to skip that step of the process, can anyone verify that?

We have a utility sink we just put in at Coyote space, and we got some old screens and clamps, but we haven't really gotten up the momentum to finish setting up and get to printing. I'd love to learn more so I can be good at exposing screens, etc. I can donate a wood-frame screen to sudo if we want to set it up with our logo for future printing in addition to the yudu.
