Agreed. This would be an awesome project to do. It encapsulates a lot of smaller projects and focuses them toward a larger goal, and will have definite value and purpose in pushing mankind into space, as well as fixing a problem that clearly exists at present (i.e. having tools to make components to repair/augment spacecraft means a big reduction in weight/cost since no need to carry all the spare components themselves)
