I hate to be Mr. Pedantic and everything, but... launching weather
balloons into the stratosphere is fun, and it's interesting, and you
can take some really amazing pictures, and it's an relatively easy
educational activity... but *it is not space*.

It still gives you a valuable easy platform, with a relatively low
barrier to entry, for learning about and developing your skills with
reliable electronics, telemetry, remote sensing, reliable battery
power supplies, and managing electronics under very cold conditions,
though, and that knowledge can be applied to higher-altitude rockets
and launch vehicles and satellites. So it's a good thing to do :)
