[hackerspaces] Organizing for Net Neutrality / Open Internet

Hi All,

Here in the US, the FCC is proposing new rules that would allow ISPs to
discriminate against internet traffic based on content. This would allow,
for instance, a recent deal between Netflix and Comcast in which Comcast
deliberately slows down Netflix traffic to paying customers unless Netflix
also pays Comcast.

See:
http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2014/05/the-case-for-rebooting-the-network-neutrality-debate/361809/

I want an internet where access doesn't depend on corporate bribes, and
I'll bet you do too. With an extended network of millions, hackerspaces
are in a great place to have a real influence on this before the FCC kills
net neutrality.

Let's start coordinating any current efforts and sources of information,
and discussing what type of actions and statements we can make. If you
want to help, start by joining and introducing yourself to this list:

Alternatively, please direct any non-constructive criticism, off-topic
diatribes, and bike-shedding to:

Happy hacking,
-Ed
