[hackerspaces] Hackerspaces survey on Free/Libre Open Source Software

I find using closed-tools always a bit odd within a hacker-enviroment.
It seems to go very much against the "If can't open it, you don't own
it" and being able to "DIY". I would suspect a preference within
hackerspaces for tools which are easy to maintain, modify, fix, (break
if it's intentional :).

I do understand the choices sometimes for closed tools, you also just
want to get on and do what you wanted to do without the tools getting in
the way (e.a. having to find some obscure opensource hardware while
actually trying to work on a software project). But there where
possible, I would expect a preference for open tools.

That is what I would -expect- from a hackerspace, a hacker-mentality.

Personally I'd definatly have a problem with my space when it starts
spending general-member-resources on paying for closed-tools where
open-tools are similarly good and easy to get.
