[hackerspaces] How to promote hackerspace inventions

Back in April, our space started working on an arduino shield to help teach programming and electronics to novices. We blogged about our prototype back then, and received enough love and interest from the internet to convince us that there was demand enough to offer kits.
Now that we have kits available for sale, we're struggling with how to promote it on a hackerspace budget. It's not as newsworthy to blogs like the adafruit blog and hackaday, I assume since it's a product, not a prototype. I suck at marketing, and was hoping someone else in the hackerspace community might have dealt with something similar.
