hey druid,
both in the US and europe there's at least 2-3 decades of history that
we haven't even been able to digest - not to mention all the awesome
people that spent the last 5-10 years in forging the current
hackerspaces movement.
and all those that enabled the culture to grow to a point where people
even started considering to build spaces together (clubs, groups,
travellers, camp and conference organizers, and many others).

it'll be really hard to give due credit to everyone - we're standing
on the shoulders of giants here. i think we should try, but a lot of
the information just can't be found easily. i think we've done a great
deal already, with the hundreds of hackerspaces that we started to
document since last year, but we shouldn't stop there.

i'd really encourage everyone to put as much information as they can
on the wiki. especially about the spaces that were founded before
2000. and if you know someone who knows about older spaces, please ask
them to contribute to the wiki as well. the more balanced we get the
wiki, the more useful a resource it becomes.

also all of you, please stop arguing who popularized hackerspaces -
the part i remember is: lots of people made strong efforts over many
years. we did this together! all of us - even the ones we don't like!
