[sudoroom] Getting an Oakland Backbone

check out the project I've been (very slowly) working on, 510pen
community mesh network - http://510pen.org/ :)
We haven't yet plugged the network into fiber like they've been able
to do in SF, although that would definitely be a goal - especially if
we had a donation from Internet Archive, a foundation, gov't broadband
stimulus, or enough users to fund it. So far we are using
mesh-friendly ISPs like Sonic.net as well as business accounts from
Unwired, etc. which typically permit connection sharing.
