Hello all,

My name is Jack,
ElectricJack seems to be my internet alias these days.

I know I talked to some of you in chat and at the housewarming yesterday,
but I figured I should probably follow up here with a somewhat more formal
email to the list as I heard this is kinda where more of the official
decision making happens.

I'm a transplant from Seattle, WA -- I moved to Oakland in late May of this
year. aaand I have a bit of a problem with tools.... That is, I have too
many and they're taking up tons of space and get little use in my two
bedroom apartment up on Adam's point.

Now, I'm a bit too much of a hoarder to feel comfortable freely donating
my precious (and other tools). However, I would love to see people get use
out of it, and I don't get upset if things break -- that is the way of
things. Entropy and all. My thought is, if sudo room would be willing to
provide the space I'm happy to leave whatever tools you guys would want
there for anyone to use, upgrade, tinker with and learn from. All I would
ask is that if the time comes for me to move long distance, I could choose
which tools I'd initially provided to take with me. (I don't foresee this
happening any time soon, but in life one never really knows)

Here's a list of stuff up for consideration: (See the attached photo as
well to get a better idea of the tools)

CNC Machine Package
  - Machine itself (40" x 40" x 28") and requires setting up some form of
mounting rig for spindle motor
  - Controller box (16" x 18" x 6")
  - Spindle motor, flex shaft and chuck
  - Controller PC (probably need a replacement for this, it's an old compaq
laptop that barely has enough horsepower)
  - Shopvac (Really necessary to clean up all the debris)

Heavy duty drill press (26" x 42" x 14")
  - DC servo motor driven for high torque at lows speeds
  - Belts to adjust torque/speed ratio

Machining vice (14" x 14" x 6")
  - Goes great with the drill press for moving stock on x/y
for precise drilling.

Ryobi table saw and stand

Hand tools: (Wired)
 - Ryobi hand held wood router
 - Dewalt circular saw, jig saw

Pegboard?

I have a friend's van lined up to help move the CNC tomorrow, which I'm
fairly certain everyone wants at the space, but let me know if any of these
other tools are of interest as well and we can bring them all tomorrow at
the same time.

Thanks errbody!
