Tonight's meeting was seriously rad. Thanks to everyone who participated.
Notes below!
Also, please add to these notes, as much is missing! Specifically, no one
was taking notes when we were discussing the current space and actively
working out the budget for September.

Sewing hackspace merging with hackspace: Rachel's sewing collective (
http://coyotecounter.tumblr.com ) has a year in her lease. She is
interested in merging with a hackerspace at the end of her lease.
Art Murmur 9/7: live clothes-hacking, sculptures, etc. parties who are
interested in working on the next art murmur, when should we meet? MK will
email the list to figure out a good day to meet to plan.
*Sudosuite*
Write a program to enact our budgeting and resource allocation plans.
- Interested parties: Jenny, Anthony, Marc, Matt, aestetix,
- Existing solutions: paypal, wepay, square, stripe, clearbon, Compare
to http://hackerspaces.org/wiki/Hackerspace_Software
- See also: metalab's hackerspace OS (
https://github.com/fhahn/hackerspace-os#readme); labitat's model (
https://github.com/labitat), more:
http://hackerspaces.org/wiki/Hackerspace_Software
- Feature Requirements:
- ability to take payments (strong preference to not use square/paypal)
- do we want to make available publically who pay and who doesn't? is
the budget public (within the membership vs to the outside)?
- ability to issue receipts
- internal economy/earmarked contributions
- Desirable trades: your own or any other member's future/current dues,
member projects, keep in the pot, raising/lowering dues, one time payments,
recurring payments
- track users, status of users, user history
- direct deposit
- tip jar?
- Ideally, this creates a sort of Kickstarter-like system for Sudoers to
contribute to group projects
- Group Membership
*Federation Model*
- Rachel suggests future potential partnership w/ her
art/clothes-hacking co-operative workshop & store (lease ends in a year)
- DIYbio space w/ Ryan and friends
- FixIt Clinic
Rachel is nominated to "Chancellor of Punching" - She accepts.
Eddan: JOBS Act now open for public comments (specifically re: crowdfunding
bill)
-Also suggests funding August rent through soliciting organizational
sponsorship
--> Matt is not into this idea, thinks we need to cover our own costs and
not do this form of sponsorship for the purpose of covering our basic costs
-Concerns over 'being beholden' as well as it being too soon to engage in
these activities
-Concerns that money should not be involved to be able to sponsor Sudo Room
---> Vote of Confidence page!
-The bylaws do allow for group membership
-Important to open up
-Difference between, say, being sponsored by O'Reilly (Matt doesn't like
their business model; Rachel points out that they're DARPA-funded) and
being sponsored by DanceSafe.. and what 'sponsorship' entails (see
'Non-Monetary Membership', below).
SudoPAC?!
Eddan's spoken with some District 3 representatives, suggests holding a
debate at Sudo Room re: tech & innovation policies in Oakland.
Becoming Legit (in the eyes of the Powers That Be):
Wednesday
-Getting a DBA
-Get bank account
--> bring Proof of Existence, the DBA, and the bylaws/compact
*Non-Monetary Membership*
"Want List" - Every member can vote on one thing they want to have in the
space, which gets added to the group's "want list" for non-monetary
contributions
-Discussion of social justice wrt membership and currency valuation
-Having time is in itself a privilege
-One person's labor, and the time put into that labor, is not equivalent to
another's - beyond skill/expertise is the individual's
background/education/privilege, granting varying levels of choice,
resources and responsibilities.
-Let's work on creating a model that actually levels the playing field.
