Hello everyone,

Do you want to join the league of the 60 certified biohackers that graduated from the first BioHack Academy? Now's the time to decide. The registrations have opened for the next intense biohack bootcamp that will start on September 15, 2015:

# Biohack Academy 2

Build your own biofactory in 10 weeks in Waag Society’s FabLab and Open Wetlab. Make all the equipment you need and use an organism from our collection to produce biomaterials such as pigments, cellulose, algae, fuel and more. During weekly lectures you will also learn the basics of biotechnology, 3D design, digital manufacturing, programming and electronics. Life has no limit!

For more info: www.waag.org/biohackacademy
Registration form: www.waag.org/bha

This is the ultimate opportunity to take your biohack skills to the next level and start your own personal biolab. Also, 2 scholarships are available for students enrolled in BSc or MSc studies.

Feel free to contact me for any questions: pieter at waag.org

All the best,

Pieter van Boheemen

@FAA, thanks for introducing me to your mailing list

Hello everyone,

The BioHack Academy is indeed a 10 week program in which we teach how to build and use a biolab. We are currently seeking people around the world that would like coordinate a local chapter for the next round in September.
http://www.waag.org/bha2

During this edition there has been a few of food related projects already. Kombucha, yoghurt, spirulina, roqueforti, it's all biology! Since we built incubators, microscopes, spectrometers, stirrers, pumps and bioreactor controllers, we now have full control over the growth conditions.

The course is fully open source, including the designs of the machines, electronic circuits, bill of materials, slide decks and video recordings of the lectures. Here's what we are currently doing http://biohackacademy.github.io
It's open source, because we want to push ourselves to make it better each round.

In case your interested in running a local chapter, or in participating on your own, feel free to contact me!

Pieter

Onderwerp: BioHack Academy call for partner labs

Hi to all,
Just sharing an interesting project BioHack Academy initiated by Wetlab
bio group in Holland and collaborating labs aiming on setting up more
biolabs around the globe and much more

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/diybio/AST3lDbYOyI

We may be more food focused as a group but definitely some things would
work for us too. I'm personally in the process of setting and equipping
small fermentation facility here in South Korea including a bio corner
so I would like to get involved. Anyone else considering?

Sincerely,

FAA
