[foodhackingbase] coin and bill donations displayed directly - existing projects?

Hi to all,
I would like to know if there is some already way how to display donations (coins&paper money) on some screen or projector, open source better. My aim is to be able to visualise directly at the moment "your donation" which you put in a donation jar or whatever on some display - main currency Euro. Are there some well documented easy to fallow projects? Anyone interested in this? 


I will be coordinating another crowd sourcing campaign at 30c3 and I think that the visualization of donations would help a lot, it should be combined with the Indiegogo donations, possibly also Bitcoin, we could be displaying the "current status" on our 37 inch screen.

I would love to help to make something like this happen but I can not get directly involved too deeply, I've already too much on my plate so I would support and try to provide what necessary. We have some budget too. The device doesn't have to be ready by 27/12, it can be played with during the conference, but sooner functional better.
