[Finance] Experiences negotiating partner agreements and member discounts?

Hey everyone,

Have any of the makerspaces and hackerspaces started to move into negotiating discount agreements with local, national and international vendors, both software and hardware?

As our group solidifies as an organization, one of the under-addressed needs, locally, is the need for those climbing up the economic ladded to get access to lead development apps and tools . And to shave the margins a bit on personal equipment. We’re starting to source vendor discounts for accredited members. Any experiences out there?
