[hs-equality] [Equality] [pylon at hackerspaces.org: Re: Queer Geeks]

We did totally fine filling more than 1 hour on the radio. If we do basically what we did on the air, but on a panel, we'll have lots of people grateful for us doing it. The hour will fly by (especially since we should leave plenty of time for Q&A). I created an event on the pentabarf system. Here's what I wrote: Event title: Queer GeeksSubtitle of the event: panel discussion Duration: 1 hour Abstract:Being queer is not 100% acceptable in society at large. Is everyone welcome in the hacker community? If we are, does everyone feel welcome? This panel discussion will explore these issues, and is intended to foster a feeling of welcome for all at 28C3 and beyond. Full Description:At Chaos Camp in August a bunch of "queer geeks" got together on the radio station for a panel discussion to share our experiences and feelings about being queer in the hacker scene. The results were profound, with many people expressing their gratitude for hearing us all on the air to share our joy and our pain. This panel will further the discussion, and help further the feelings that all of us are welcome and valued in our broader hacker community. The panel will consist of:
Fabienne Serriere -- creator of Hard Hack
Jimmie Rodgers -- full-time hacker, inventor of LOL Shield
Koen Martens -- journalist on Signal Radio
Mitch Altman -- inventor of TV-B-Gone, remote controls
Thomas Lohninger -- journalist on Signal Radio
Willow Bloo -- organizer for The School Factory I can change any or all of the above. Please let me know your thoughts/feelings. Best,Mitch. -----------------------

Even if there is no "official" space in 28C3 for this panel, we can create one and publicize it. From the responses we've been getting, there's obviously interest. Mitch.
