I'd say, a default wordpress install, akismet to deal with the spam, start
with our personal stories and a few pages. You don't have to make a blog 
if you're using wordpress, it's just the most common use.

Maybe at first one page with the idea and intent of the site, how it came
about. Another with the mailing list info on it. And then the list of 
author pages with the personal stories.

We can take it from there I guess. Start small & simple, so it still is
realistic given everyone's already very pressed schedule.

I suck at graphics, can do the hosting / installation if needed though. I star
