A few of us welcomed guidance from other maker community leaders, but failed to persuade the board majority that it was useful and even necessary.
For the most part, doubt and factionalism did us in. And I can’t stress how important it is to stay with a small leadership team during development (and perhaps even after). Some on our board would have been better as advisors, and some as organizers.

It's too bad. I would have been glad to have helped you avoid our fate in Santa Fe (sf_x). The exact same decline. As I said in a thread months ago, too much adhocracy can lead to entropy. Oh well.
