Ian forwarded your message to me regarding South FL hackerspaces and I
wanted to reach out to let you know of some activity in the area. I would
recommend checking out the South Florida Hack & Tell group:
http://www.meetup.com/south-florida-hack-and-tell/. The group has members
from Miami to North Palm Beach and everywhere in between. Regarding
specific makerspaces/hackerspaces, there are a few initiatives underway,
each at different stages. Right now, the only makerspace that is open that
I'm aware of is Makers Square in Fort Lauderdale (http://makerssquare.com/).
There's a group in Boynton that has a physical location that they're
currently working to outfit and they've already started hosting events
there (http://launch.hacklabnobo.org/).

All of that said, I'm also involved with an effort to start a makerspace in
the Northern part of Palm Beach county (http://pbled.org/). We are looking
for a physical space, but in the meantime we've started hosting events
including a Maker Camp which just started yesterday. If I can provide any
other information or help get you connected to certain groups please let me
know. I've also CC'd Mike Greenberg on this email. Mike runs the South FL
Hack & Tell group, is involved with the Boynton space and is a fantastic
resource for maker activities in South FL.
