In the time since you asked this, the thread has gone so far down the
flaming cesspool of fail that I think I need to take a break from reading
it and thinking about it. Through no fault of yours, mind you -- I think
there's a good discussion to be had, particularly about the unusual
diversity of your space, but I'm now convinced that this list is not the
place where it can happen.
