[hackerspaces] efficient bench usage - what is the proper term for the "clean slide" option?

Thanks William and Lee,
I think that for this application the term "multipurpose" would suit better. The reason being that here in Korea "common workspace" is a concept not well understood yet (at least not to my knowledge).

Once more thanks, I will progress on the proposal.

Sincerely,

the term I would use to describe what you're talking about would be  "multipurpose", as in a multipurpose room, or a multipurpose desk, etc.

Maybe the phrase you were thinking of is "clean slate", but in english clean slate usually refers to starting something with no pre-existing conditions, so it would sound weird if you use it in the context you're referring to.

Hi to all,

An example: a bench in hackerspace has to serve to a group which wants to work with electronics and solder, at other time to program, later on do sewing etc. The best option would be probably to have the bench completely clean with additional label "be excellent asshole and clean your shit after yourself, thank you!" but I do not know how to call it in "English". "Clean slide?" Another example is to use a futon to sleep in the room making your bed every day in the evening, cleaning in the morning and using the room for other purposes during the day.

Having a clean benches all the time with detergent and cleaning sponge by the sink is one of the important topics on the list and it is a general practice in most of the good labs but I'm missing the "terminus technicus." I do believe that this "clean slide option" is the most time efficient one in environments where many different activities are carried out - like hackerspaces.
