Bitcoin is a project that aims at having a bank-less monetary system. It
managed to do so. Technically, what this bank is offering has already been
existing somehow, they just propose to make exchanges between euro and btc
far easier and seemless for their client. In practice, I believe that this
is a huge step toward usability by the general public.
This could have a major impact as this really lowers the cost of making big
payments in bitcoins : I can get paid in euros but quickly get a reasonably
trustworthy bank convert a lot of them into bitcoin at demand.
I do believe this will have a great impact, not so much on the current
bitcoin community, but it will lower the barrier of entry and will give a
respectability to something that too many people still consider like
"illegal money".
