we at metalab created hackerspace-os and are currently using a private
fork of it that has a lot of improvements but also a lot of
metalab-specific addons that prevent everything from being merged.

it's currently somehow unmaintained and has a few bugs, but the basics work.

florian hahn is hosting a git repo that has a lot of fixes:
https://github.com/fhahn/hackerspace-os

i heard something about NYCR possibly using it, but haven't confirmed it.
