I think I have to agree with you.  There are a few services that
exchange other currencies for Bitcoins but they're beginning to get
scarce.  Paypal's been shutting down accounts of people who are doing
that.  There are a few people who are willing to exchange cash in the
mail for Bitcoins, but I don't know if any of them can be trusted (I
haven't used them and haven't heard enough stories about it to say one
way or another).
