There are a few of us at HacDC. We've been working on Project Byzantium
for a couple of months on the tech end. For what it's worth, I'm a
member of the usual organizations (the EFF, ACLU, and FSF) and I donate
money to them as well as a number of projects that are part of the
privacy and anti-censorship sphere. I also present at local LUGs on Tor
(in particular) and distributed technologies (Byzantium, again). I've
done a few seminars for small groups of concerned people around DC but
that's largely quieted down. I'm also usually the one who speaks up on
privacy, surveillance, and anonymity in the odd public debate on the matter.

When I have time, I write tutorials on how to properly use privacy
related technologies (though that's slowed down as well due to RST).
