[hackerspaces] are we creating a political discussion list?

It's not really politics we've gotten to discussing anyway... it's ethics, which is philosophy.  
And no, that's not "splitting hairs". IMO, discussing ethics related to any field a person finds themselves in is rather important, and completely underrated. ;)
