So, the deal is now official, so I'll give out a quick announcement to our
global hackerspace friends:
Arch Reactor is officially putting a microsatellite into low earth orbit!
We are teaming up as the build partners with Openly Disruptive (
http://www.openlydisruptive.org/) and our friends at Zombie Squad (
http://www.zombiehunters.org/) to fund, build and launch a microsat into
LEO. Openly Disruptive is a group that pulls other groups together for large
scale projects and will be primarily providing funding and specialists to
help AR design and build the sat. Zombie Squad will be providing their own
amazing brand of fund raising and will be providing the licensed radio
operators we need.
All in all, it's going to be a blast.
The sat hardware kit and the launch will be provided by Interorbital Systems
(http://www.interorbital.com/TubeSat_1.htm). Go have a read, it's nifty.
Moving forward, we want to involve our fellow hackerspaces in the project,
so we are looking for ideas of what we can do with our .25kg payload.
We'll soon be putting up a blog specific to the project so you can keep an
eye on our progress. If all goes well, we should be on the first launch this
fall!
