[hackerspaces] status of this list

I read it as dismissive and inflamatory.

If you don't have anything nice to say...

What was the purpose of the email? To kill the thread and minimize  
openfly?

That's not terribly nice, or constructive, and stimulates a similarly  
worded negative response, aka a flame
