With the first space we were lucky as we were not required to have a
security deposit. There was only the rent to pay. For our current space
we used most of our savings plus every member was asked for a small
extra donation.

We try to have at least an amount of money in our accout, which equals 3
month of running costs. Whenever there was a surplus after paying rent
etc. we saved that.

Either equipment is donated to us (by so. external or a member) or we
just ask our fellow members if anyone likes the idea of having this or
that and what he/she would be willing to donate in case we by $stuff.
The membership fees are not used, as they just cover the running costs.
