There are lots of ways of getting a hacker space together.  Though there are ways that are better for a given group, there is no best way -- it is up to each group what works best for them.  There are many commonalities, and many differences amongst all hacker spaces.  From my perspective, Hackerspaces.org is about supporting hacker spaces, regardless of how we each decide our structures and commonalities and differences.  I think we can all learn and benefit from each others' experiences, be they similar or different than our own (and usually both).
