[hackerspaces] Startup publicity

I say something like: Noisebridge is part of a new wave of hackerspaces around the world. In the last year and half hundreds of hackerspaces have started up around the world. A great resource for people interested in hackerspaces is hackerspaces.org.

So what do those of us part of a space do to promote the movement as a whole when we're interacting with the media or anyone else?

I always say that Noisebridge is part of a hackerspace movement. That's not always picked up by the interviewer, though. The CNET story <http://news.cnet.com/8301-27080_3-10405255-245.html> didn't really pick up on other hackerspaces, much, or hackerspaces.org. (But, like you said, people will type "hackerspace" into their search engine of choice.)

I'll be giving a talk about starting your own hackerspace at Codebits (in Lisbon) on Thursday, and doing a panel with Bre and Jens in Singapore (at Neoteny Singapore Camp 1) the following week. I'm hoping this will create more buzz for hackerspaces and hackerspaces.org.
