Hello HackerSpaces List,

Google is excited to announce Google Summer of Code(TM) 2011!

Google wants to encourage young developers to begin participating in
open source development while still in school - and while earning
money at the same time. In it’s sixth year, Google Summer of Code
(GSoC) provides opportunities for students in Computer Science and
other academic disciplines to work on a wide range of free and open
source projects over a 3+ month period. Since 2005, the program has
brought together over 4,500 students from around the globe with over
300 open source projects to create millions of lines of code.

Google carefully selects 150+ open source, free software and
technology-related groups to serve as mentor organizations for a wide
variety of open source projects. Students then apply directly to the
projects that interest them. Those who are accepted are paired with
mentors to help them succeed.

We are contacting you to ask you to share information on GSoC with
your community and to encourage them to apply!

Organization applications will be accepted from February 28th until
March 11th, 2011.
Student applications will be accepted from March 28 - April 8, 2011.

For more information on Google Summer of Code 2011 and how to apply as
either a mentoring organization or a student, please visit:

languages available for download.
