I am brand new here, so please excuse my jumping in and speaking to this,
but Art Mumur and crowds I know a lot about.<br><br>
Besides the art and techy and teaching things I do, I also run a button
company in the back of Warehouse 416, on 26th Street.<br><br>
If you open up for first friday, and get people's attention, you could be
completely swamped with visitors - inundated to the point of
impassability. The fire department has already been cracking down on
venues with no back door exits, and limiting their capacity...and coming
around on first friday to see if people are complying. It might not
happen the first night the space is open, but word spreads fast.<br><br>
If there is a way to set up on the sidewalk, with info papers, blinky
stuff, noisy stuff, anything to catch people's interest I think you will
be much happier. If you have people who can lead tours on the spot for
those who show a genuine interest then the space inside will be much more
manageable for you, and much more meaningful for your visitors.<br><br>

paperclips at Techliminal or TechShop? Filling the entire window with
moving paperclip automata powered by a few hidden DC motors could be
really cool (and quite modular - everyone can build a little piece). I
