My project is an LED flat plate bio-reactor. It will convert co2 to o2. I estimate it will cost ~5k to make one big enough to clean the co2 for one person for a few days. Next stage would be to build a habitat and go for a long term stay. Ideally it could also be used for various other bio reasearch applications. Thus it has economic value outside of space, hence the sustainability part on earth part. So any project should do a little of both. <div>
<br></div><div>Other amateur organizations already do telemetry and attitude control of rockets AND have posted details. I think it should be ok as long as its small, educational, and uses off the shelf parts available internationally. <br>

I think an underwater habitat would be a great project. If you can figure a way to get one to maui we could look around for some grants (NOAA, NASA). But 5k is not enough. Multi million is a bit much, but its still a 100k+ project AFTER moving it. You need a big boat for support. It could be done privately as well with tourism as main capacity and space research as an ancillary use. <div>
