grateful for any donations so try to think about your workshop in a way that you end up in a "plus numbers", however if the things do go bad we always try to make sure that the person in charge of the activity walks away at least with 0 and not minus, it worked so far (not all the workshop are "money makers" some really cool staff has to be supported but we have to plan for that). Day 3 dinner workshop is still open, that means that during the workshop we would be preparing food for 15-20 people more or less and the ingredients will be covered partly by our budget and partly by participants. Check our idea for the dinner workshop on the page but they are hands on and participants eat with the crowd later on the dinner. This may be a good option, I really on your self esteem that people will be impressed by your and your team creations :-) You can also take another time slot where you do not have to prepare so much food just to play with
participants, it is up to you but whichever way book sooner than later :-) I hope the group is OK with that, give it day or two and if no responses claim the slot (or better claim it now and possibly change it later)

I'm looking forward to meet you soon!

<div style="font-family:

style="font-weight: bold;">Subject: Re: Food Hacking & Collaboration at OHM 2013?

Hi Frantisek,

Wow, thanks for the prompt reply! I'll be heading to OHM only a day before it starts (July 30) because I'm taking off from work so I barely have time to prepare when I get there! I'm actually not part of any dedicated tent, but I'm hailing from Lamba Labs Beirut Hackerspace. Also, I've been trying to follow up with the OHM speakerdesk with regards to the date/time and venue of my workshop.

Up until now (and upon seeing that list of gear you linked) I've been unsure about the resources at OHM and its kitchen. And because I have to travel very lightly, I can't bring any equipment/ingredients myself. As a result, I've been planning a relatively "theoretical" workshop, which is no fun when it comes to food! But your Food Hacking Base is giving me hope that it can be more practical and fun and, more importantly, hands-on!

One of the activities I planned is an exercise in which the participants get a list of ingredients that may be leftover after a meal, plus some idle ingredients that remain around a kitchen most of the time. The goal will be to creatively (and tastefully) combine things in ways that they aren't usually intended for- basically snack-hacking!

An example from my last workshop (Hacking Breakfast) here in Lebanon was a peanut butter and labneh crepe! Also, from my personal favorites: labneh -tuna casserole (Greek-style, Mexican-style, basically any style with the right herbs & spices, as you well know I'm sure). Also, I have to admit that labneh is such a great food-hacking ingredient so we're lucky it's everywhere here.

I was planning to do this exercise abstractly with laptops or papers & pens because I had no equipment/ingredients. If there's any way you could help me get this exercise off of paper and into the real world, then I'd be terribly grateful. Not to mention that I'd love to learn as much as I can from you guys while I'm there and maybe contribute what I can.

Best,

Raja

P.S. Do you have a list of ingredients that you're using for your meals yet?

P.P.S. I believe I'm already subscribed to your mailing list and of course I have no problem with you posting this there!
