<div dir="ltr"><div><br></div>Hey there, <div>I think that we cover all of those listed and then add to the list that we recently started hosting a monthly "new member orientation" and it has actually gone really well. We noticed it takes our members some time to acclimate and I think getting them to feel comfortable and on the ground running with whatever projects they had in mind, this orientation session helps. I recently started a "newsletter" in hopes that while people begin researching our hackerspace they can find this Newsletter and start to understand the culture of our community. </div><div><br></div><div>Hope that helps. Will be interesting to see what others do as well. </div><div><br></div><div>Thank you, <br></div><div><div><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div>Kim Stahl</div><div>Director of Public Relations</div><div><a href="mailto:pr@archreactor.org" target="_blank">pr@archreactor.org</a></div><div><br></div><div>Arch Reactor Hackerspace/Makerspace</div><div>2215 Scott Ave.</div><div>St. Louis, MO 63103</div><div>Follow us on Social Media:</div><div>Facebook: <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/archreactor/" target="_blank">https://www.facebook.com/groups/archreactor/</a></div><div>Instagram: @archreactorstl</div><div>Twitter: @archreactorstl</div><div>Meetup<a href="https://www.meetup.com/Arch-Reactor-Hackerspace/" target="_blank">https://www.meetup.com/Arch-Reactor-Hackerspace/</a></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><br></div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Tue, Mar 3, 2020 at 8:41 PM webmind <<a href="mailto:webmind@puscii.nl">webmind@puscii.nl</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex">Hi,<br>
<br>
I'm looking for new hackerspace patterns on welcoming new and existing<br>
people into your space. I'm familiar with a few, but wondering what<br>
other ones are out there.<br>
<br>
The ones I know:<br>
<br>
* Have regular public events<br>
* Spot and actively welcome new people coming into the space, give them<br>
a tour of the space, tell them a bit about the community, invite them to<br>
ask questions.<br>
* Diversity of subjects, the more fields you hack in, the more likely<br>
someone will find something of their interest (don't over stretch<br>
yourself either).<br>
* Clean & Cozy, empty space invites usage and creativity, it's nice to<br>
work in a space where you don't have to worry about what you step on or<br>
if you need to wash your hands after touching anything. It's also nice<br>
to be comfortable, couches, proper chairs&desks, snacks&drinks, nice<br>
lighting, atmosphere, etc.<br>
<br>
Which patterns have you seen that did and didn't work?<br>
<br>
<br>
Thanks o/,<br>
