We came up with an informal policy of any vehicle being left indoors without notice for more than 3 days becomes scrap metal to scare off potential abusers. However in reality everyone has worked well together and it’s not been a problem. We just watch for the twinkle in new members eyes when they ask about having a project car and we reiterate to them that a long weekend of working on a car is one thing, more than that and they have to move it outside between work sessions. There is a decent slope into the garage so this essentially means it has to be running of course. Also, since we have the room, we ask that the first person to pull their car inside to please pull ahead to the farthest position so that a second member can pull in behind them if needed (which does happen semi-frequently). Again, folks have been really good about this and I’m very pleased with how much car use the workshop has gotten.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">-dosman</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><br class=""><div><blockquote type="cite" class=""><div class="">On Feb 23, 2015, at 12:47 AM, Chris Agocs <<a href="mailto:chris@agocs.org" class="">chris@agocs.org</a>> wrote:</div><br class="Apple-interchange-newline"><div class=""><div dir="ltr" class="">Southside Hackerspace: Chicago is thinking having an auto maintenance area in our next space. My second biggest concern is someone dropping a car on him/herself.<br class=""></div><br class=""><div class="gmail_quote">On Sun Feb 22 2015 at 11:38:55 PM Brendan Halliday <<a href="mailto:wodann@gmail.com" class="">wodann@gmail.com</a>> wrote:<br class=""><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr" class="">HSBNE (Hackerspace Brisbane) has a property which was previously a maintenance depot for Customs and so it has a grease pit which is useable.<div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Several of our members use it and a 'car maintenance' day sounds like a great little earner.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">We do currently have a car sat in the middle of our quad being transplanted into another which is causing a bit of a shitfight as the member who is doing it isn't around when many others are and so seems to believe they can leave it there for several months.</div></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br class=""><div class="gmail_quote">On Mon, Feb 23, 2015 at 3:24 PM, Arclight <span dir="ltr" class=""><<a href="mailto:arclight@gmail.com" target="_blank" class="">arclight@gmail.com</a>></span> wrote:<br class=""><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex">Question: How many other space out there let people work on their<br class="">

We do not let people leave vehicles on the premises, as experience has<br class="">
