David, Is your status tied to an automatic detector, or a voluntary switch? At i3detroit, we realized pretty quickly that an automatic system (I had originally suggested a HacDC-style motion detector) would not respect the privacy of members who wished to work in the space, perhaps alone, without announcing their presence to the world. So we implemented a simple switch, by the door, which sets the website statusbox to "open for guests" or "closed to guests". It's purely voluntary, and a fair number of members don't use it. If we ever get around to implementing SpaceAPI, it'll run from this same status bit. -Nate- David Powell wrote: > Is there anyway to password protect the status of a space? We want to let our members know when we are there or not but not the general public. For security reasons we don't think it's smart to announce that information to the world. > > On Thu, Jan 3, 2013 at 7:21 AM, Aubort Jean-Baptiste wrote: > > Hi there, > I've made this app using the SpaceAPI to show your hackerspace status, including a widget and the list of the spaces which implements the API. > You may want to check if your hackerspace is working, some of them aren't, or the image is missing, etc. > > app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ch.fixme.statussources: https://github.com/fixme-lausanne/MyHackerspace > Feedback welcome!Cheers > > Aubort Jean-Baptiste > _______________________________________________ > Discuss mailing list > Discuss@lists.hackerspaces.org > http://lists.hackerspaces.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss > >
