Currently, educational use of GPGPUs ranges from bioinformatics simulation to cryptographic research, to high energy physics data analysis, to media processing, visualization and rendering. Larger institutions that have these mini-supercomputers in their student labs are often using them for code prototyping prior to spending their precious compute-time budget at the larger supercomputer clusters, since the software environment and performance are considerably comparable. <br>
<br>Bitcoin mining probably still falls under the educational umbrella, if framed correctly, and the <200W total power draw for a cluster with 6 CPUs and 6 GPGPUs doesn't hurt either. :)<br><br>- Jamie<br><br><br>
