Check out Bathsheba Grossman... my favorite recent math artist.
She was doing great designs and having them 3d printed in metal for almost
10 years now?

a close friend who just finished his applied math phd (and also a lover of
teaching) started on the kick of printing math functions.

personally I think it's cool to show the function physically instead of a
3d image on a 2d page.

anyhow... that's just some quick ideas that pop into my mind at midnight
