I can't wait for this thread to turn into an (american) liberalist
versus (european) socialist flame war.
I'm really amazed it didn't turn that way. (Until now that is.)

I will side with those who say that awards instigate elitism and
unhealthy competition. Awards were great fun in the 90s when everyone
would create his own website-award, but I don't see where it would
have a positive effect for hackerspaces.

Some hackerspaces that lack the necessary manpower will feel left out,
people will start to become distrustful of one another... simply put,
I personally don't like this at all.
